The Kerry Doctrine
It's not too often that I run across an opinion piece that is genuinely of value, in that it gives me information I didn't already have, or causes me to think about things in a different way, or to consider them in a new light. This is one of those rare pieces.

Interesting organization, The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Fine old pedigree. For instance, Harvard grad and big-time KGB agent Alger Hiss served as president from 1946-49. Unfortunately, Spy-Guy Al was convicted of perjury in 1950 relating to his treasonous activities, but I'm sure he managed to collect a pension from the CEFIP.
All we are saaaaaaying, is give peace a chance.

So did you read the article or just skip to the byline?

Yes, I read the essay, Jan. It's a good one, aside from a few gratuitous partisan sops, but it asks the same questions that conservatives have been asking for a year now. The difference is, conservatives don't have a lot of patience for "ironies", nor do they want to hear about a candidate struggling with his inner pacifist.

The comments upon what Kerry said at the convention seem purile at best. Yes: America has a bad history about going to war. Yes: Vuiet Nam is a war we should have avoided. Yes: Kwertry fought in that war: Yes: Kwerry later gave oppositiop n to that war. Does this mean then that he has misreaD HISTORY OR RATHER THAN HE IS MERELY SAYING THAT HE WILL NOT EMBARKUPON WARS THAT ARE NOT WORTH FIGHTIN, SUCH AS iRAQ, WHEREIN WE WENT FOR WHAT IS NOW TRASPARENTLY THE WRONG REASONS...iRAN A BETTER WAR BUT WE WILL; NOT FIGHT THAT ONE...The comment is mere knee jerik anti-Kerry stuff...ask the loved ones of the 1000 Americans who have lost lives if Iraq a just and good war!

Dude, how do you accidentally hit the caps lock for like three lines' worth of text and not even notice?

While our readers are welcome to add their comments, we'd prefer they do so without dipping into a rant like the above. And mind the language, or I'll be forced to edit - something I'd really rather not do. Thanks!
